Wolfpack Road Race

Mark, Jake, Dan & I went to NC Saturday to do a 64 mile road race. The course was rolling and there was only about 20 or so entered and by the time the race started, there was close to 60. There were several attacks early as a few teams worked to get the right guy in the break. At this time, only a few guys are able to ride a break for 50+ miles. One guy took a flier and Mark tried to catch. We rode tempo on the front, but with the head & cross winds, Mark wasn’t able to catch the lone rider who ultimately solod the entire race for the win. Time to Regroup!!
There were several attacks again and after I pulled the group up a hill at a good tempo, Mark attacked with a group of about 3. After a short break, Dan and another group followed. That was the race. Jake and I stayed with the other dozen or so riders to finish. Jake took the field sprint if I got it right.
With almost 60 starting, less then 1/3 finished.
CRC went 3rd & 5th respectively. For me – race #1 of season under the belt – I’m Sore, but pleased

2011 Membership sign up is live

Thanks to Craig, the 2011 CRC online membership registration is now available. Any and all riders that wish to race under the CRC banner must register. This not only includes the $20 registration fee but agreeing to the liability waiver. Remember, if you don’t register the shop won’t know you’re a member. Git ‘er done!

Darden Towe Cross Race and CRC Holiday Party Dec 4th!

Hi everyone,

Saturday December 4th CRC is holding the last cross race of the year, at Darden Towe. One of the more epic courses out there, Darden Towe is a great family friendly venue as well. Additionally, the CRC Holiday Party is that night (7pm on, at 620 Ridgemont Road Earlysville Va 22936).

But to pull off one of the classic CRC races, we need your help with the following:

Course set up will begin at 10am next Friday. I need a 3 or 4 folks to cover reg & results from 0830 to 2pm. It could be split into 2 shifts: 0830 to 1100, and 1100 to 2pm. Also, any help for course tear down at 3pm would be helpful.

CRC Racing relaunched for 2011

Thanks to the efforts of a bunch of people, CRC is going to be stepping up in
2011 with a renewed focus on racing. Back in the day, CRC was a Virginia BAR
powerhouse and it wasn’t uncommon to see CRC at the front of the race. Well,
its back to the future time as CRC is back in the race game and even fielding an
elite team. Mark King, Bill Scanlon and I will all be returning to CRC this
year to race. Additionally, Cat 1-2 BAR champion Dan King will be joining CRC
as will another superb bike racer in Marc Warner. But that is not all, we have
heard from several other racers that they will be racing for CRC next year as
well- but I will let them post emails to the list.

This will be a top to bottom effort, and as before racer development in the Cat
5’s and 4’s (I know we have some really good ones in town) is a large part of
the plan. There will be Jeff Cup practice rides, the Saturday Shop Rides,
Tuesday Night Worlds, the Wintergreen Ascent and a bunch of other fun stuff.

But what about free beer, wine and food you ask- well we have you covered there
as well. The CRC Annual Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday evening,
December 4th at my place again, starts at 7PM. Same day as the Darden Towe
cross race is scheduled for. So come race or volunteer (or both!) in the morning
and celebrate the coming year that night. Hopefully the party will be blizzard
free this year.

Looking like Saturday December 4th. We should have confirmation of that and some exciting news for CRC 2011 very soon.

The Appetizer MTB ride - 2010 edition

The Thanksgiving Day MTB ride is back again!

This year, the turnout will be surely dwarf the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, at least in attitude.

The ride this year is at the most excellent Teventrails in Earlysville, which is located here: http://tinyurl.com/yek57l8

The ride will be Thursday, November 25th at 10am. The ride is expected to last a couple hours, and if the turnout is anything like years past, we will have a lot of fun riding and enjoying the company of our fellow riders. Everyone is welcome, and the trails at the Tevendale farm are excellent for all abilities.

There is no better excuse for having a 3rd slice of pie at Thanksgiving than having ridden your bike for a couple hours ahead of time.
